Fads tend to come and go with the times, and curves are back in a major way. A round, lifted butt is at the forefront of modern aesthetics, but unfortunately, not everyone who wants one has the genetics for it. Luckily there’s hope for those who don’t have the butt they want, by way of a butt lift from Tampa Bay Plastic Surgery.
This procedure is a permanent one. Often referred to as a Brazilian butt lift (BBL), it is an elective surgical procedure that involves using liposuction to transfer fat from one part of your body to your butt. During the procedure, fat is transferred from areas of abundance, such as your upper arms, thighs, belly, or flanks, and redistributed into your butt to create a curvier contour.
You and your provider will discuss which area(s) make the most sense to harvest fat from while taking into consideration your desired cosmetic results. When fat is removed from your body via liposuction, it stays gone for good. The fat relocated into your butt is also a permanent change. Blood vessels will grow in your newly-enhanced buttocks that will keep the fat cells alive.
It’s important to understand that while the procedure is intended to be permanent, your results may be affected by significant weight gain or weight loss. Weight gain may cause your donor area to begin looking like it did before surgery, and weight loss can reduce the size of your newly enhanced buttocks. To keep your body looking fabulous, you may need to engage in regular exercise and eat a healthy diet.
The reason your butt lift is permanent has to do with how your body grows and maintains fat cells. As you grow, your body will continue to produce fat cells, and production typically stops around age 25, after which no new fat cells are created. Instead, when you gain weight, the fat cells you already have will inflate with fatty acids. When you lose weight, the cells deflate – they don’t disappear altogether.
Since your body doesn’t produce new fat cells after 25, removing cells you do have from your body becomes a permanent change. Once they’re out, they’re gone for good. When fat is injected back into your body, new blood vessels will form to supply these new cells with vitamins and minerals needed to thrive in their new location.
Fat cells don’t naturally move from one part of your body to another, and your body isn’t capable of efficiently accepting all of the newly relocated fat cells. You can expect to keep around 60 to 75 percent of the fat after it has been relocated to your buttocks. To offset this, many providers will “overfill” the area with extra fat cells.
From music videos to reality television, big butts are in. If you have the genetics for a round, shapely behind without having to undergo surgery, consider yourself lucky. You can probably shape and sculpt your butt the old fashioned way – the gym. For the rest of us, the only way to obtain the desired cosmetic results is to undergo a BBL.
Bodies come in different shapes and sizes, and correcting or improving the body’s proportions is a common reason to choose a BBL. By transferring fat from one area to another, you’ll have a little bit more control over what your post-procedure body will look like.
For example, you can obtain a more dramatic look by harvesting donor fat from your flanks, therefore narrowing your waist. If you have adequate fat deposits around your flanks and belly, you can choose to reduce the size of your waist while simultaneously increasing the size of your buttocks – resulting in a much more dramatic change to your hip-to-waist ratio and obtaining the coveted hourglass figure. Other common fat donor sites include the upper arms, double chin, and inner thighs.
You’ll be hard-pressed to find another single procedure that allows you to alter the shape of two parts of your body at once. No matter where you’re holding extra weight, whether it be your thighs, upper arms, belly, back, under your chin, or your flanks, you have several options from which to choose as donor sites.
The amount of fat that’s transferred is different for everyone, but there’s a limit on how much fat can safely be transferred from one area to another. If the donor site you choose doesn’t have enough fat to create the size buttocks you want, your provider may suggest harvesting fat from two areas instead of one.
A BBL isn’t the only way to enhance your buttocks, you can also choose to have implants placed or use less invasive fillers to do the job. Unfortunately, implants and fillers can lead to unnatural looking results if your weight fluctuates at all. Since the BBL utilizes your own fat to increase the size of your butt, the end result will look and feel much more natural than your other options.
Some patients prefer to enhance their bodies by putting in long hours at the gym. Of those who choose to go the gym route, few are able to achieve the results they want through exercise alone. Larger buttocks can be moderately achieved by building muscle, but you won’t achieve the same results as you would with a BBL. During your surgery, fat will be moved immediately from one area to another, and you’ll notice a difference right away.
As mentioned, some fat cells won’t survive the transfer process, and your butt may shrink a bit post-surgery. Overfilling the area will allow your butt to “shrink to fit” your cosmetic goals. So, if you undergo the procedure and your butt is bigger than you expected, it will shrink down as the cells that didn’t survive are eliminated from your body.
Women’s clothing is made to accommodate curves, and your new curvy buttocks will enhance yours. You’ll probably find that your wardrobe looks a lot better on you now that you’ve achieved the shape you want.
Of course, there’s a chance that your old wardrobe just won’t do anymore, providing you with the opportunity to buy new clothes to better fit your body.
It may seem counterintuitive, but adding more fat to your buttocks may help reduce the visibility of cellulite. Cellulite forms when the fibrous tissue that attaches your skin to your muscle can’t stretch far enough to accommodate the fat in your butt, leading to the dimpled appearance of cellulite. Transferring fat to your buttocks helps reduce the appearance of cellulite by filling in the dimpled areas, creating a rounder, smoother derrier.
No provider would perform a surgical procedure on a patient that was considered to be unsafe. Liposuction has been successfully performed for decades, and so has fat transfer. During your procedure, a long, thin cannula through which fat is removed will be inserted into your skin. The donor fat will then be put through a sterilization process before it is re-injected into your butt.
The procedure is considered minimally-invasive. No implants, incisions, or sutures are necessary during fat transfer.
Patients choose to undergo cosmetic procedures to better align their physical bodies with their ideal image. Some women simply want a curvier, thinner, sexier body. Others, though, choose to undergo cosmetic surgery so that they can feel better about themselves.
Women are bombarded every day with ideal images of what their bodies should look like. For some women, it isn’t a big deal, but others may take a hit to their self-confidence and self-esteem if their genes don’t give them the perfect body. Through elective cosmetic surgery, you can boost your confidence and self-esteem as you show off your new, sexy butt.
Speaking of showing off your new, sexy butt, the minimally-invasive nature of a butt lift means that there won’t be an incredibly long, painful recovery period nor will you need to wear bandages for long. After your procedure, you’ll be fitted with a compression garment you’ll need to wear to ensure your butt retains its shape.
Nobody needs to know you had a BBL if you don’t want them to.
Many patients hoping to undergo surgery to enhance their but make fine candidates for a BBL. Some, though, need to make a few changes before they’re eligible for surgery.
The state of your overall health is vitally important in determining your candidacy for a butt lift. At your initial consultation, your provider will want a full medical history, including any medications you took (or take) and any conditions you may be currently experiencing.
Previous procedures, ailments, or conditions won’t always disqualify you. The conditions your provider will be most concerned with are those that could complicate surgery, and there aren’t many conditions that would do that.
Your provider will explain to you what a butt lift can do for you and what it cannot. For example, if you have a lot of loose skin from dramatic weight loss or the effects of aging, you may need to undergo another procedure to have that removed. A BBL does not include skin removal.
The procedure is dependent upon transferring fat from one part of your body to your butt. Patients who are too thin and lack adequate fat deposits will have to gain some weight before they’re able to qualify for surgery.
If you’re apprehensive about gaining weight, especially if you’ve just lost a significant amount, make sure to ask your provider how you can do so safely. If you don’t want to gain any weight, implants may suit you better than a lift.
Age isn’t that big of a deal, but you need to be at least 18 for a BBL. You may want to wait a little longer than that, though, as an 18-year-old body isn’t finished developing. Remember how your body creates fat cells until you’re 25? If you choose a BBL before your body has finished developing, you may be unsatisfied with your results in a few years.
The BBL involves using liposuction to extract fat from one part of your body and deposit it into your butt, resulting in a larger, rounder, shapelier backside. All you need is to be in good general health and possess adequate amounts of fat in your donor area. There’s no reason for you to go through life being dissatisfied with your body.
