Brazilian Butt Lift: Know if you’re a good candidate for this procedure

Brazilian Butt Lift at Tampa Bay Plastic Surgery

A Brazilian Butt Lift is a procedure that removes fat from areas of the body and transfers it to the buttock area. BBL surgery increases the size of the buttocks to produce a rounder, shapelier backside. Click here to see Dr. David Halpern before and after butt lift photos.

Are You a Candidate for the Brazilian Butt Lift Procedure?

The ideal candidate for our Tampa Brazilian Butt Lift procedure meets the following criteria:

  • You have enough fat in other areas of your body.
  • You’re generally healthy with no un-managed health conditions, blood clotting disorders, or skin infections.
  • You have enough fat in other areas of your body.
  • You have realistic expectations about recovery and about what can be achieved through plastic surgery.

Preparing for BBL Surgery

A consultation with a plastic surgeon is a prerequisite for treatment.

At this initial meeting, Dr. David E. Halpern will ask why you want a Brazilian Butt Lift and what you would like for a desired outcome. He will ask if you are taking any medications, have a past history of drug allergies, if you have had cosmetic surgery in the past, or if you plan to have additional procedures done in the future. He will also evaluate you for risk factors, and take photographs for planning purposes, in addition to discussing the process and recovery in greater detail.

What to Expect

When a fat transfer is to be performed, fat is removed through standard liposuction procedure from the thighs, flanks, or abdomen. This fat is then processed and injected into the buttocks. Following your Brazilian Butt Lift Tampa patients will need to wear special compression garments for several weeks to reduce swelling.

Recovery

You’ll be able to get up and walk around the day after your procedure.

The pain is managed with medication, so you won’t need to worry about that. Expect some discomfort at the liposuction sites. The larger concern is the fact that you cannot sit down for two weeks.

You will need to spend a lot of time laying on your side or stomach to allow the buttocks adequate time to heal after your BBL. Compression garments must be worn for at least two weeks to reduce swelling. Bruising is to be expected and it is not unusual for the black and blue to spread up to the abdomen or thighs, subsiding after a few weeks. You will have special instructions to care for your incisions for the first week. It is standard to prescribe an oral antibiotic to prevent infection during the first 7 days following Brazilian Butt Lift surgery. Dr. David E. Halpern will provide special seating and activity instructions for your post-operative care.

Patient Safety Information

Only consider true professionals

Tampa Brazilian butt lift model with black hair

Horror stories of butt injections or implants gone wrong arise largely from patients who went to unlicensed facilities run by underground, unqualified “surgeons” who are not certified by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

These untrained hacks have filled syringes with everything from mineral oil, to cement, to medical-grade silicone into people’s bodies with terrifying consequences. Think twice before going to a “spa” that offers a secret menu of body enhancements. It takes a high degree of skill, experience and artistry to pull off the perfect butt augmentation. Only consider true professionals who pass regulatory scrutiny and take every precaution in providing safe experiences for their patients - Such as Dr. Halpern, your premier Brazilian Butt Lift Surgeon in Tampa.

Results

You will observe the most dramatic difference right away, with your backside diminishing slightly in size over the next 2-3 months as swelling goes down and some fat is re-absorbed into the body

A whopping 90 percent of Brazilian butt lift patients say the procedure was “Worth It” over at independent review site RealSelf.com. Similarly, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons noted 98 percent of butt augmentation patients were “very satisfied” with their results. In a study of 58 patients, no complications were reported and just one complained of fat reabsorption four months later.

Risks

Dr. Halpern will discuss risk factors for complications, what can be done to mitigate these risks, and whether you are a good candidate for this type of surgery or not.

Adverse events, such as the untimely death of a former Miss Argentina following butt augmentation, were related to NON-FDA-APPROVED SUBSTANCES being injected into patients. Dr. David E. Halpern only uses fat injections from your own body. Be aware that it is NEVER OKAY to inject “liquid silicone” into the body as so many unqualified people have been doing.
